Used to perform reliable analysis on bituminous mixtures utilizing the perchloroethylene (PCE) or tetra-chloroethylene solvent which is classified: R40 not cancer producing (see note*), for quantitative determination of binder or bitumen contained in pavement samples and hot mixed mixtures.

Other Details:

• The system performs in only one complete automatic cycle:
• the washing, disaggregation and separation of the bitumi-nous mixture;
• the separation of the filler from the solution formed by solvent, bitumen and filler;
• the recovery and distillation of solvent material allow-ing a further utilization.
• This unit, in a short time, performs out a serie of analysis that normally require a long time and labour, by reducing extraction costs.
• The unit comprises:
• An electromagnetic sieving unit, insuring high quality double vibrating action (vertical/rota-tional), with solvent spraying cover for washing and disaggregation of the sample.
• A continuous flow filterless centrifuge having rotation speed of 11000 rpm equipped with a stainless steel beaker dia. 120 mm., filler capacity approx. 400 g.
• A solvent recovery unit having reclaiming capacity of approx. 50 l/h, equipped with cooling system foreseen of devices switching ON and OFF the unit to fully automatically perform the test
• A separate control panel allows to program all these func-tions in a fully automatic system. It is also possible to select the manual function allowing to activate each specific function previously analyzed.
• This unit is supplied complete with:
• Two stainless steel beakers dia. 120 mm
• Four stainless steel sieves dia. 200 mm openings: 0,075 - 0,250 - 0,800 - 1,6 mm
• One Sieve Frame only dia. 200 mm. to improve the capacity of the first sieve.

• Sieves with different openings are available on request. A complete extraction cycle is performed ot in approx. 25 minutes and the max. quantity of mixture per extraction is 3500 g

Pressure Ageing Vesell (PAV’s) use heated, pressurized air to simulate long-term oxidative aging of asphalt binders. The PAV's consist of an ASME-Code and CE certified stainless steel pressure vessel, stainless steel cabinet with encased band heaters, and integral pressure measurement control. The state of the art PAV3 meets ASTM, AASHTO, and EN 14769 requirements and includes a platinum RTD device to insure accurate temperature resolu- tion and uniformity. A pressure relief valve and high-temperature thermal shut-down are included as standard safety features. A USB port located on the front of the unit allows the user to easily store test data and upgrade software if necessary. The system now includes remote operation capabili- ties, and allows the user to completely control the PAV3 system using an app compatible with most smart phones and tablets. The Pressure Aging Vessel (PAV3) uses a Touch-Screen Controller with front panel user interface for complete control and monitoring of all test processes. The system has an operating pressure range of 2.1 ±0.1mPa, and temperature range of 80°—115°C, with resolution of 0.1°C. This easy-to-use system completes a test in three easy steps: press the heat button, insert specimens when prompted, and press the age button. The stainless steel cabinet measures 28x18x30in (710x460x760mm), WxDxH. The PAV includes a set of ten TFOT specimen pans, a precision anodized aluminum sample holder with lifting handle, and a specimen handling tool.

Marshall Apparatus is used for the measurement of the resistance to plastic flow of cylindrical specimens of bituminous paving mixture loaded on the lateral surface.

The Automatic Compactor eliminates the laborious process of manual compaction and an even degree of compaction is achieved. The driven mechanism lifts the weight of 4.5kg and drops it through a correct height of 457 mm. The rammer foot is removable, which facilitates preheating. A compaction pedestal with specimen holder is fixed to the base. An Automatic Blow counter enables the number of blows to be present before each test and automatically stops the machine on completion. Suitable for operation on 230 V, 50 Hz, Single Phase, A.C. supply.

This Gyratory Compactor, entirely developed and manufactured by Matest, is used to simulate and reproduce the real compaction conditions under actual road paving operations, hence determining the compaction properties of the asphalt. Such compaction is achieved in a fully automatic way, by combining the rotary action and the vertical resultant force applied by a mechanical head. The Compactor comprises a highly rigid steel frame ensuring excellent angle control. Load is applied by an electro-pneumatic cylinder, servo-controlled by a precision pressure regulator; the height is measured by a linear transducer.

This test, developed in laboratory, consists in evaluating the deformation (rut) depth of a bituminous mixture subjected to cycles of passes of a loaded rubber wheel under constant and controlled temperature conditions. To perform the test, a wheel tracking apparatus is used to simulate the effect of traffic and to measure the deformation susceptibility of the bituminous sample.

The equipment is used to rapidly determine the asphalt content, bulk specific gravity of aggregates, the specific gravity of bituminous compacted road mixtures and the percent air voids in the sample. Vacuum pump must be ordered separately.
